Short Term Missions Teams (SMT):
Short-term mission's teams are a significant part of Charlie's Lunch Ministries. Every year churches and individuals come to serve with Charlie's Lunch in a foriegn mission field by providing ministry and aid to those less fortunate. The 'short-term missions team', (SMT), not only experiences the "mission field", through visitation and participation of Charlie's Lunch feeding centers, but has great impact on encouraging local pastors and ministries. The majority of Charlie's Lunch SMT's include a medical outreach to the foriegn community. Doctors and nurses who participate (from the US) give medicine, free medical care, and lots of prayer to those who do not have the means or resources to see a doctor otherwise. On many occasions, an entire village will come out to see the doctor and each individual will recieve the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Children's Ministry and Construction are additional ways of servanthood on the SMT experience. All in all, SMT's become a blessing for everyone involved. Over and over again we hear from past SMT participants how "life changing" their experience has been. Missions Team Cost Grid:
The following trip discounts are available for all 2010 summer teams and will be "in addition" to self-booked roundtrip airfares. Multiple adult family member discounts apply to immediate family members only (i.e. spouse, child age 14 years or older, parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, and cousin). Due to the greatly reduced fees for toddlers and children under age 14, additional discounts are not available for these age brackets.
After a child reaches toddler age, a hotel and airline considers that child an individual that takes up a bed space or an airplane seat. This also applies to a ferry boat seat, a bus seat or a seat at the table of a restuarant in the countries we visit. The buses we rent and the hotels we stay in charge for each passenger or boarder whether they are toddlers or adults. Therefore, Charlie's Lunch is charged for hotels, air travel, bus transportation, and restaurants inside or outside a hotel by the ACTUAL HEAD COUNT REGARDLESS OF THE AGE. An exception is that in some food establishments, many will have a child's menu for ages 10 & under, thus the significant discount for these age groups.
Although family discounts are offered, Charlie's Lunch Ministries recommends that parents endeavor not to bring young children (especially toddlers), if possible. All minors must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult.
