Greetings from Charlie’s Lunch!
We are excited to send a quick update on all that is happening through Charlie’s Lunch Ministries around the world!
Juarez, Mexico Just last week, July 12-20, a group of 15 youth and adults from Colfax A/G Church in California joined Sam Stewart and family for a special evangelistic outreach at 2 different Charlie’s Lunch Feeding Center sites. That’s right, Two! The second feeding center in Juarez, Mexico will be opening in August and the ministry was launched with this group.
The group sang, performed drama, passed out candy, passed out fliers and tracts, served up food for 150 kids and gave out lots of hugs! The temperature climbed to over 100 degrees and the winds blew but the smiles on the children’s and team-members faces “out-shined” the hot sun! Approximately 300 children and adults attended the services and almost 100 prayed to ask Christ into their hearts! Glory to God! Pastor Hector (Casa de Dios Church) and Pastor Antonio (Palabra de Vida church) were grateful, blessed and encouraged by their ministry and love.
Please keep these summer outreaches in your prayers as we take groups to Guatemala and El Salvador in the next 4 weeks. There are always battles to face as we invade the enemy’s territory with the love of God.
A Testimony Rosa Maria pays daily for her faith in God.
Rosa Maria is a mother whose 2 daughters are part of Charlie’s Lunch in Juarez, Mexico. Since Charlie’s Lunch opened its doors in this area, Rosa Maria has come to know the Lord and become part of the local church. But her new-found faith comes at a high price. Janey Stewart says, “I was so touched by Rosa Maria because when she goes to church, she goes home and is beaten by her alcoholic husband. He also allows other family members to beat her and she is treated as a slave. She comes to church with bruises, but nothing can take away the peace in her heart and the love she has found in her church family.” Most of us don’t face that kind of constant persecution. Pastor Hector and the church members are helping her. She has never in her life known such love and acceptance through Christ and Casa de Dios Church. Let’s all pray for Rosa Maria and this alcoholic husband. Our God changes lives!
Chiapas, Mexico Yes!! We are moving forward with a new Charlie’s Lunch feeding center in Chiapas Mexico. We were excited to send missionary Steve Woodward the funds for the new kitchen equipment and we have received $250 in monthly commitments to fund this new feeding center. We will begin feeding 50 children in this very poor area but still need $250 monthly so we can feed 100 children. The workers are ready and are interviewing families to find the hungriest children in the area. Please consider making a monthly commitment for Chiapas. The living conditions in this picture below speak of the great need.
India On May 24th, the Charlie’s Lunch Children’s Home opened its doors in the fishermen village of Gogannamattam, India under the direction of Pastor Shravan Kumar. Pictured here are the 10 orphans, the house parents, the local pastor and directors. Friends, this is only a small beginning for the great need in India, but we thank God for those He has put in place to do this work. Below, you see the children praising God for the food to eat. These children are being fed, clothed, housed, educated and shown God’s love. Our response is, “Give us more Lord!” More children, more workers, more funds, more opportunity and more vision for reaching out to the hungry in body, soul and spirit!
