Dear Friends of Charlie’s Lunch Ministries, Greetings! We have exciting updates to share with you from our newest Charlie’s Lunch Feeding Center in El Salvador. 75 children have begun receiving lunch 3 times per week in the village of Santiago de Maria under the direction of Pastor Francisco Sandoval. Pastor Francisco reports that a revival has broken out among the youth of that church and they are involved in feeding and reaching out with God’s love to these hungry children.
In Kadali India, a new Charlie’s Lunch Feeding Center is beginning this month. This center will not only feed hungry children every day of the week, but these children will receive clothing, education and a new home. The center will be located in a fishing village called Gogannamattam on the east coast of India in the district of Andrah Pradesh. Pastor Shravan says, “ I’m sure Charlie’s Lunch will be a tool to win this community for Christ.” That is our ultimate purpose. Pastors Shravan and Sharath Kumar are pictured here distributing gifts from our Christmas outreach. They both pastor thriving churches in India and desire to reach out to other areas. Their hearts for the poor are evident and strong. We join hands with these men of God to reach out to the hungry, hurting and needy children of India. Please pray for them and for Charlie’s Lunch as we expand into this nation of over 1 billion people.
In Juarez, Mexico on June 23-29, over 20 youth from Colfax Assembly of God church will be working with Charlie’s Lunch in a special children’s and youth crusade to the entire community where Pastor Hector, his wife Gloria serve. (pictured left) The Charlie’s Lunch Feeding center is in “full-swing” feeding hungry children in this part of Mexico. The church is growing and shining!
On July 12-20, a team of 17 from all over the U.S. will be traveling to Guatemala and El Salvador to 4 different Charlie’s Lunch sites for special medical outreaches in each village. Dr.Bob Abresch will lead the medical side of this outreach as we extend hands of compassion to those with little or no means of help because of their impoverished conditions.
On July 26-August 2nd a construction/ medical team will be traveling to Guatemala to the Charlie’s Lunch feeding center in Santa Lucia to construct some “add/ons” to the church and feeding center. They will also hold medical clinics there and at our new location in El Aguacate, Guatemala. Pray with us that lives will be impacted with the gospel of Jesus Christ through the summer outreaches.
URGENT !!!
Just last month, I returned from visiting Missionary Steve Woodward in Chiapas, Mexico. He showed me the urgent need in 5 different settlements of refugees from the recent civil war.
In this picture you can see their living conditions. Friends, I saw hundreds of what appeared as animal stables where large families are living. Children live in shacks made of cloth, boards, trash, whatever they can find.
The workers are eagerly waiting, ready to reach out to these communities through Charlie’s Lunch. All we need is $400 per month to feed 100 children in 2 different locations. Could you help us? 8 monthly contributions of $50 per month would meet this need. However any amount you could give monthly for at least one year would help. Just designate your donation “Chiapas” and we will move forward establishing 2 new Charlie’s Lunch feeding centers.
The vision for Charlie’s Lunch is clear. Our goal is to see Charlie’s Lunch in every poverty-stricken nation of the world. We move forward in expansion by faith but we need YOUR help. The pleas for help are loud, urgent and strong and we are responding as quickly as we can. Currently, we are in need of another $800. per month to fund these 3 new feeding centers and $3,600. to equip 2 more kitchens. Would you pray as the Charlie’s Lunch kids in these pictures are praying and ask the Lord if He might enable you to become a partner with Charlie’s Lunch? Together, we can be the Heavenly Father’s hands extended to the hungry children of the world.
Reaching out to the hungriest in body, soul and spirit,
Sam Stewart
