NEW KITCHEN IN WARDHA, INDIA

They Ate Too Much!

The first day, they ate too much! In the last week of January, 2006, Charlie's Lunch began feeding 50 children on a regular basis. Pastor Ashu (Ashwin) reported that the children "ate too much" the first day because it was the "first nice meal they had in a very long time" and they weren't sure when the next one would be. However, Charlie's Lunch is feeding these children 3 times each week and they are lining up to eat and very happy to be a part of Charlie's Lunch. Pastor Ashu is very excited to reach out to his village with this feeding center.

This feeding center has been very valuable help to us in gaining access into the lives of the local slum dwellers. The children at this feeding center, apart from getting nutritious food, are also growing well in the knowledge of the Lord. After this project we have seen great response from the parents as well. There is increasing demand to accommodate more children into this program.

Pastor Ashwin Wakode Writes:

"There is a girl named Kavita who comes to the feeding center from Indira Nagar slum. She is 3 years old. Initially when she was selected for this program we thought that she is malnourished. During the routine medical checkup of the children the doctor found symptoms of AIDS. Din Bandhu team took her for further tests and it was confirmed that she is having AIDS. Din Bandhu is taking care of her and looking after her medical needs. Through Charlie’s Lunch we have been able to provide her with special diet. This love for her has drawn her mother to Jesus Christ. It is to be noted that Kavita has lost her father to AIDS and her mother is also having AIDS. There is also increasing acceptance to the Gospel among the neighbors of Kavita."
